THE WORLD SCHOLAR’S CUP

Congratulations to our 68 students who have registered for the Jakarta Round of the World Scholar’s Cup on 4^th-5^th May 2019 at BPK Penabur, Kelapa Gading. We have 8 Junior teams and 15 teams for the Senior division. A total of 68 students from Sec 1 to JC1. This is amazing! Every World Scholar’s Cup features four exciting events.

Scholar’s Bowl
Teams work together to solve analytic questions and multimedia challenges.

Collaborative Writing
Students are given six prompts, from each of the six subject areas, ranging from creative scenarios to explore to persuasive arguments to make. Students have time to prepare together, then time to work individually to write the most compelling piece possible.

Scholar’s Challenge
It’s multiple choice, so students can make multiple choices. Students apply their knowledge of the six subjects successfully and they can win medals in one, two, or all of them..

Team Debate
Each team debates three times, on motions across all the subjects, from policy to poetry. Students may be arguing whether parents should have access to surveillance cameras at schools – or whether women make better superheroes.

To prepare the students for the Jakarta round, we will hold a WSC Camp on 26^th-27^th April (Friday-Saturday). Ms Jaina and Mr Gabriel will be working with a group of students to organise the camp. We want this to be a chance for our students to lead and teach other students under the keen supervision of our teachers. If our teams are successful, and are invited to the Global Round, they will have the opportunity to compete in Sydney next academic year.
