Fun Focused Activities

This week Primary 5 students learnt Unit 1 Vocabulary in their English class. Learning vocabulary is critical to students’ reading success. Mastering vocabulary is much more than a list that students receive every unit. Students’ writing becomes richer and more engaging when they have a larger reservoir of words. 

A great way of using and exploring vocabulary within the unit is through interactive vocabulary games. This brings energy to the class so we make it a point to begin with a fun vocabulary activity before the lesson starts. Some interactive vocabulary online games that P5 students enjoy are hangman and gameshow quizzes. Students play against the computer as a class and they have fun guessing the words. This activity helps them master spelling words accurately. Gameshow quizzes challenge the competitive spirit of the students as they get points and bonus rounds while learning the use of words. Learning vocabulary virtually is unexpectedly so much fun!
