DR DAN’S DIARY

Dear SIS-PIK Families,
I hope all of you had a pleasant and restful Lebaran break, and that our students are returning to school fully recharged and ready to face the upcoming Semester Assessments head on!
This last week has seen a fascinating Primary Parent Workshop led by our Primary Heads of Department; along with our K2-P1 transition morning on 23rd April, it has been lovely to finally welcome parents back to on-campus events. Our approach throughout the pandemic has been to see our full reopening goal as a journey, one step at a time, ensuring the safety of our community. Each event like this gets us closer to July when we hope the new academic year will see SIS-PIK operating much more like ‘business as usual’! On that note, I must inform you that following a new government regulation, we will expect all students to be on campus for our last week of school (the week commencing 6th June). Only students who can submit a medical certificate will be authorised as absent from campus. Whilst this is a decision coming from the government, we do believe that it is a good way of reintroducing students back onto campus if they haven’t been in this year – preparing them for a full start in July. The Preschool, Primary and High School teams are working really hard to have an amazing week of events, competitive games and sports and celebration ceremonies for this final week. It looks set to be great fun for all. I will send more information on the last week of term in due course.
Talking of celebrations, there’s good news contained in this edition of the Community Updates, with the results of the WMI 2022 Prelims. Also, I’m delighted to report SIS-PIK success in the JISMO Spring 2022 competition. A total of 1,522 participants from 6 countries joined the competition. We are proud of our Primary 4 student, Victoria Severine Liono for winning the Two-star Legend Award in JISMO Spring 2022. This award is presented to participants who win all 8 Individual awards. Victoria also received the Ruby awards for Science and Maths Individual awards. Congratulations!
Very best wishes,
Dr Dan
