DR DAN’S DIARY

Dear SIS-PIK Family,

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope you all had a lovely term break. For me, the break is always a great time to reflect back on the previous weeks, think about what went well and about what we can improve. I always impress on the students that they should do this too, especially as this term will result in the Semester Assessments.

The term has begun really well, with a lovely Teachers’ Day celebration across the school. In Secondary and Junior College, the prefects led student/teacher quizzes and gave awards to our academic team. We all massively appreciate their kind words. Today was Children’s Day in Preschool and Primary, and it was a chance to celebrate ‘Superheroes’ – those who are fictional, and also those ‘superheroes’ we see in everyday life.

The administration team has been very busy over the past weeks and months, preparing the school for students to return to campus, with automatic temperature checks, santisation stations, acrylic screens around all the desks and a clear one-way system in the school. Some students will be coming to campus this term once a week to take their virtual learning in a classroom setting. We can’t wait to see them in school again! All parents who have registered for their children to come to school have received a consent form, and detailed information on our testing, vaccination and safety protocols. If you haven’t registered for your child to come and do their virtual learning in school, there will be the opportunity to join our face-to-face hybrid teaching programme, which will take place in Term 3.

We’ve had a busy two weeks so far, and an even busier term ahead, with Primary and Preschool virtual field trips, ‘Resourcefulness’ Week, Semester Assessments and reflections, and our Christmas and Holiday celebrations. I wish all our families a wonderful term.
