PRESCHOOL AND PRIMARY PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE (PTC)
We would like to invite all Preschool and Primary parents to our Parent Teacher Conference (PTC) on Friday, 27th September 2019.
Our Preschool and Primary teachers will be available from 7:30 am to 12 noon on Friday the 27th September. We hope you all can attend. To respect all parents waiting to meet teachers, we have instructed our staff to prioritise parents with appointments and request that meetings are limited to 10 minutes. Seating will be provided for parents waiting to meet teachers. We hope to minimise waiting times and create greater convenience for our parents. Please remember to collect the Term 2 Calendar of Activities from your child’s Homeroom Teacher. If your son/daughter accompanies you please ensure that they are wearing their school uniforms with black shoes.
We would like to inform you about our reporting process. Currently, when you log into PowerSchool you will see the chapter test, homework, classwork, and participation marks for your child. On Friday morning, we will open an additional portal on PowerSchool where you will be able to view a summary of the progress of your child to date. You will see indicators for:
- Management (Does your child come to class with all the equipment required? e.g. textbooks, laptops etc)
- Collaboration (Does your child work well with others? Is your child a positive team player?)
- Task Completion (Does your child complete homework? Does your child do his/her best to complete classwork?)
- Progress
- And a personalized written comment describing your child as a learner.
With these indicators you will understand the strengths and weaknesses of your child as a learner. Progress is a very important indicator as it will show if your child is on track to succeed in each subject. A result of ME (meeting expectations) should be very pleasing.
You will not receive a hard copy of the progress report. However, you will be able to print a copy of the report at home if you like. We will of course continue to provide hard copies the semester report (December and June). The semester report is part of your child’s permanent record, and may be requested by schools and Universities.
We would like to invite you to book an appointment to see your child’s teachers during the Preschool and Primary PTC. Today, you will receive an email from psadmin. The email contains the link to the PTC booking system and important directions to sign up for an appointment using the booking system. The booking system will be open from the 20th to the 25th September. We look forward to seeing our Preschool and Primary parents at the PTC on the 27th September.
During the PTC day, you can see the progress of your child online through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. IT will be on hand to answer any questions about the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please feel welcome to ask for help.
