BUILDING LEARNING POWER AT SIS-PIK: PARENT WEBINAR

We are delighted to launch a new year of Parent Webinars. This year, our focus is on making students more independent learners. We know that students who have strong independent learning skills are highly successful, and so we strive to build in our children the 4Rs of independent learning: Resilience, Resourcefulness, Reflectiveness and Reciprocity.

To make students resilient, resourceful, reflective and reciprocal, we need to build their learning power. Therefore, our teachers integrate strategies into all lessons that develop students’ learning habits, making them better learners, preparing them for a lifetime of learning.

Our teachers have been trained in ‘Building Learning Power’, proven teaching strategies pioneered by Professor Guy Claxton. This is based on an extensive body of research into learning and educational psychology.

From 30th August, all students from Preschool to JC will be experiencing reciprocal learning in their classes. At our Webinar on Friday 3rd September, you will be able to see some of the ways our teachers build the skill of teamwork and collaborative learning. You will also get tips on how to support this at home. Finally, there will be an opportunity to meet our new DHTs, Ms Junaida and Mr Gareth!

Date and time: Friday 3rd September, 3-4pm
