A MESSAGE FROM MS JEN

This week I was reminded of the importance of our parents as our partners in education. We are a family, committed to care and support one another. Commitment is an important concept. The root of our English word commitment lies in Latin, and it is a combination of two shorter words: ‘com’ means ‘with’ or ‘together’, and ‘mittere’ which means ‘to send’. Commitment, therefore, literally ‘sends us with each other, together’. If we are committed, we are sent, we journey, on the same path, or mission. If we are committed to an ideal or value, we journey to fulfil that promise together. Commitment and community are tied.

At SIS-PIK, we are committed to our mission: excellence in teaching. Our school is committed to you, our families: we stand by you when times are tough. Teachers and adults who work here are committed to our students: we want them to grow towards healthy adulthood, full of true character, kindness, persistence and strength. We are committed to help outside our immediate community through serving those less fortunate: through SISwa Peduli Bangsa. Our list of commitments goes on, and on…..

Our SIS-PIK community is our extended family. We are committed to stand by our families with love and support. We thank you for standing by us, and we, in turn, commit to stand by you.
