SECONDARY AND JC SEMESTER ASSESSMENTS

We are committed to ensuring that our Semester Assessments are fair and robust, and that grading is valid and reliable. We also appreciate that remote examinations could be affected by technical problems. To this end, we have formulated the following procedures for the administration of remote examinations:

  • At Homeroom time on Monday 16th November, all students had the procedures explained to them, and were asked to digitally sign to say they understood and would comply with them.
  • During all examinations, students will connect to a GoogleMeet with their handphones. It must be positioned from either behind them or to the side of them, to show their hands at the keyboard.
  • Time will be provided for invigilation checks prior to the examination, and for students to report any technical problems. The following invigilation checks will be completed for every student: they must show that their desk is clear, save for their laptops and any materials sanctioned for the examination. There should be no books on the table. If pens/pencils are required for use for note taking, there should not be a pencil case.
  • Microphones will be switched on throughout the examinations. Candidates should turn the volume down on their devices so not to be distracted by any noise.
  • Toilet breaks are not allowed before 60 minutes, and students must not leave the examination before 60 minutes. If a student leaves an examination, they must submit their paper and will not be readmitted.
  • In case of connection issues which means a student cannot undertake the examination, an email must be sent from the parent to confirm the problem. A make-up exam will be allowed, to be invigilated by a parent/guardian.
  • Students must submit their examination papers within 15 minutes of the end of the examination. A paper submitted after 15 minutes will not be accepted without an accompanying email from a parent.

We have operated a number of Chapter Tests over the weeks prior to the SAs to test this system so that it is as effective as it can be.

Secondary 3 and 4 assessments began on 23rd November, Secondary 1, 2 and JC assessments began on 26th November. Thank you to our parents for your continued support.
