NEWS FROM PRESCHOOL
Welcoming Our Students to a New Preschool Programme

What a great start everyone in SIS-PIK Preschool has made! We are amazed by the children’s eagerness and adjustment to school routines. It’s wonderful to begin the day with smiling faces that are happy to be at school! Of course, it can be a little nerve-wracking for first-timers. Starting school is a big step for all children and their families.  While some confident boys and girls take change in their stride, sensitive kids need all the help they can get. That’s why orientation days are very important and our Preschool designated the first orientation day by conducting a session for parents while the children were occupied in their respective classrooms.  This can be a good way to learn more about the school and meet other families.

Our days are structured so that children experience all activities within, and beyond, the classroom as well as transitions between activities and routines which impact the child’s cognitive, emotional, physical and social development. This academic year we proudly introduced a new subject in Preschool for K1 and K2 called Project Work. In Project Work we use the STEAM method of teaching and working with children that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics. STEAM encourages thinking skills such as critical thinking and problem solving, encouraging different ways of thinking. Critical thinking uses different parts of our child’s brain to engage them in different styles of learning. We look forward to a fun and productive year in SIS-PIK Preschool!
