SIS-PIK COMMUNITY UPDATES
No.26/2019-2020 – 6 March 2020

A MESSAGE FROM MS JEN

I am dearly thankful to all of our SIS-PIK families. I am so appreciative that our SIS-PIK community has come together to help create a nurturing environment for our children to learn.  As you may be aware, Indonesia has reported its first cases of the coronavirus. In response, we will step up our precautions at SIS-PIK.

Safety Precautions at SIS-PIK

  • Temperature checks each morning. If your child has a temperature above  37.5 degrees C your child will be sent home.
  • All teachers, NTS, Security staff and Cleaning staff will be temperature checked each morning.
  • Classrooms are disinfected each day.
  • High traffic areas such as door handles are disinfected each morning.
  • Hand sanitizer is available on each floor.

But I still need your help.
Please keep your children at home if they;

  1. Have a fever
  2. Have problems breathing
  3. Have a cough, or runny nose
  4. Have been to a country on the level 2 or level 3 CDC travel alert list in the last 7 days. At the moment, these countries include: China, South Korea, Italy, Iran and Japan. Please be aware that Hong Kong is currently level 1. Your child must stay home for 14 days quarantine.

The best defense against the coronavirus is a healthy immune system. If your child is sick, please keep them home so they can rest and get better. Your child will recover faster at home, and have a stronger immune system for the coming weeks and months.

As term 3 break approaches, I ask parents to be mindful of where families go on vacation. The CDC has issued travel alerts for China, South Korea, Italy, Iran, Japan and Hong Kong. We ask parents to reconsider traveling to those countries during term 3 break. However, if you choose to do so, we will ask you to keep your child home for 14 days quarantine upon your return. This is to keep our community safe. I hope you can understand. Please note that the countries on the CDC travel alerts list are updated regularly, so please check regularly. Countries that may be safe to travel to today, may not be safe by term break.

As a community, it is important we work together to ensure the safety of our children. I gently request that you share your vacation destinations for term 3 with us here

As the situation progresses we may need to close the school. Please know that at this time, there are no plans for closure. We have, however, been planning for such a possibility. We are building on-line learning platforms through Seesaw and Google Classroom, as we aim to continue to deliver a quality SIS-PIK education. To be clear, we have no intention to close the school as yet. But please know we are ready and prepared.

Even in our darkest days, we are strongest when we stand together. Please reach out if your family needs support. We are a community who cares for one another and stands by another. Thank you.
