DR DAN’S DIARY

Dear SIS-PIK Families,

We have come to the end of another academic year, and my first year as Head of School. I couldn’t have wished for a better end of the year – seeing near every single student in school this week, working hard in lessons, playing hard in house competitions. We’ve had a glimpse of ‘normality’ and there’s been many laughs heard in the corridors and classrooms.

Whilst in some ways we are getting back to normal, we have also grasped the opportunity to introduce new improvements to SIS-PIK. On Wednesday, all the Primary 6, Secondary and JC students were introduced to the new ‘High School’ uniform for next academic year. A mixture of the international and traditional, formal and fashionable, our students are really going to stand out! A strong smart uniform is proven to increase both behaviour and academic performance, and I can’t wait to see our Junior and Senior High School students wearing their blazers and ties next year. The designs have been made with both style and comfort in mind. The blazer is a very lightweight fabric and will be worn with a short-sleeved shirt. We have also introduced a new long sleeved batik (to be worn without a jacket) for formal occasions. This shirt has been especially designed for us and is unique to SIS-PIK. You can see a video of our fashion show below.

Also on Wednesday was the annual Celebration of Learning for all years in the school – recognising students’ achievements in their academic subjects and their independent learning abilities. Congratulations to all students who were awarded prizes! A particular ‘congratulation’ goes to Travis Ainsley Wilvicious in P6, who has been awarded bronze for the SASMO (Singapore & Asian Schools Math Olympiad) Competition 2022. Our ‘Mountain Week’ wouldn’t have been complete without all of the exciting house based competitions. STUCO organised a huge range of sporting and non-sporting games for Secondary and JC and the Preschool and Primary students also had a varied selection of activities, including a ‘SIS-PIK’s Got Talent’, Arts and Crafts and even a Pyjama Party!

I look forward to celebrating with K2 and P6 as they have their ‘Moving Up’ ceremony tomorrow. It is a huge milestone for them, and we are excited to welcome them back in July.

At today’s PTC, you will have discussed your child’s progress with their teachers. Soft copies of the final school report of the year will be sent to you one week after the end of term. I wish all our families a happy and relaxing end of year break, and we look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 18th July, where there will be an orientation day for all students, and an invitation for all parents to come to campus to meet the teachers.

Very best wishes,

Dr Dan
