A Message from Ms Jen

The virtuoso Spanish cellist, Pablo Casals, once said:

“Each second we live in a new and unique moment of the Universe, a moment that never was before and will never be again. And what do we teach our children in school? We teach them that two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all of the world there is no other child exactly like you. In the millions of years that have passed there has never been another child like you.”

Too true. Math and Science and our other disciplines are important. We need to work hard, with commitment, to master them. But our sense of our special selves, as marvels, unique, is more vital. Every child in our school is special, deserving of compassion, and development of character. That is our journey at SIS-PIK.

We want more for our children than academic excellence. We also wish to build discipline, compassion and character. We wish to create students who chose to do the right thing, own up to their mistakes, and take responsibility for their actions. Our goal is to create a caring environment where our children are guided to develop exemplary character. We want to develop students who are caring and kind.

I wish to thank everyone in our school community for their support. As Pablo Casals has said, the responsibility of every school is to recognize that every child is a marvel, unique and special. Bricks build houses, but hearts make a school.
