LAPTOPS in SCHOOL

Thank you to our parents for supporting our laptop program in P6, Secondary and Junior College. This is such an exciting journey as your child will be  immersed into a world of technology. Teachers, led by Mr Felix, Ms Roshpinna, Mr Benny and Mr Abdul, use the laptops as a pedagogical tool to improve learning. Apple has developed incredible tools that help students learn. Through Photo Booth, students can record themselves speaking Chinese. By listening to the teacher, and comparing it to their own recording, students can improve their pronunciation. Through iMovie, students can record chemical reactions during science experiments, and replay the experiment through slow motion, and thereby observe scientific principles in action. Through GarageBand, students can summarize a story, and annotate it with their own pictures. The possibilities for improving learning are endless.

One area that is particularly important to us is the cyber safety of your child. To ensure your child only has access to websites that are approved by the school, our wifi is protected by a firewall. This means at school your child is unable to access youtube, games or other inappropriate sites through the school internet. However, we need your help. Students are able to circumvent our firewall, if students have a VPN installed on their computer. With a VPN, students are able to go around our firewall and access the internet freely – youtube, games and more.  

We ask parents to kindly restrict your child from buying and downloading a VPN. Thank you for your support. Together we can create a great school.
