A Message from Ms Jen

We have been meeting every week over the past academic year to design our COVID-19 safety protocols.  This has been an incredibly important process – and a challenging one.  Our understanding of COVID and what we need to do to stay safe has been adjusting and changing over time.  I remember back in May 2020, the Singaporean government stated there was no need to wear masks.  That is no longer the case.  As more information about COVID comes to light, we must rethink and readjust our protocols.

I have taken inspiration from an excellent book called, Think Again, written by Adam Grant. This book reminds us that it is so easy to be blinded and blanketed by our own confirmation and implicit biases. We can become so convinced that we are right in our views and opinions that we rely on practices and protocols that we have used in the past, rather than what is best for the future. This book implores us to constantly think like a scientist, so we are able to evaluate our views as new information comes to light.

This book is a necessary reminder that it is essential that we all learn how to unlearn, and how to re-think, and to think again…rethinking is a skillset and a mindset. As we continue to build our reopening plans and as new research on COVID comes to hand, we will follow the guidance of Adam Grant to constantly review, re-evaluate and improve our safety protocols.

This is our commitment to the safety of our school community.

We commit to Think Again.
