SIS-PIK COMMUNITY UPDATES
2021 - 2022

No.12 – 28 January 2022

DR DAN’S DIARY

Dear SIS-PIK Families,

My first ever experience of SIS-PIK was in February 2019, when I visited as a guest, prior to accepting the position of Secondary DHT. I was amazed at the magnitude of the Chinese New Year celebrations and I was honoured to be invited to the main event one Saturday morning. This really showed me the fantastic strength of SIS-PIK – the community spirit and our families all coming together. I will never forget the performances, lion dances and hundreds upon hundreds of dumplings being made by all the mothers at the back of the MPH. It is an experience that will stick with me for a long time, and made me fall in love with our school right away.

Unfortunately, for the last two years we haven’t been able to celebrate in a communal way. However, I’m so very proud that our student body, with the leadership and support of our Chinese Department, has created a wonderful virtual celebration for Monday 31st January. I hope you all will join us to watch. I’ve still managed to get into a festive spirit this week. Our school campus has been decorated, with our lobby transformed, covered in red. Classes have been buzzing with students undertaking Chinese cultural activities to mark our very first ever Chinese Arts Week.

Our campus will be closed on Monday 31st January (school will be virtual and finish after the celebration in the morning), and aso on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd February for Chinese New Year holidays. I look forward to welcoming our students back on Thursday 3rd.

Very best wishes,

Dr Dan
