INTRODUCING OUR NEW STAFF
MR JASON & MS DEBBIE

Jason Marcelo Almeyda – Mr Jason, in Primary

My name is Jason Marcelo Almeyda, a Filipino. I’m a father of three beautiful daughters. Playing with them and watching movies together is what I love to do most. I have been teaching Science to students at elementary level for nearly two decades. I graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in General Science, and a Master of Education with the same major from the Philippine Normal University. After eight years of teaching in the Philippines, I decided to bring my passion and skills to an international level. I moved to Indonesia in 2012. I started in Medan and after a number of years teaching there, I moved to Jakarta. Prior to SIS-PIK, I taught in schools in Tangerang and PIK. I’m thrilled to be part of the SIS-PIK family. I’m looking forward to learning more, and experiencing fun and adventures with you all – most especially the students.

Debbie Edith Mary Grantham – Ms Debbie, in High School

Ms Debbie is a motivated and outcomes driven educator who comes from sunny South Africa. She has two grown children and a grandson, of whom she is extremely proud.

During her 30-year career as a teacher, she taught Business Studies and English at secondary school level whilst performing several roles, including Head of Department, Head of Grade, Cluster Coordinator and Education Advisor. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, English and Business and a Master’s in Education Administration (leadership and management). Ms Debbie has had the privilege of travelling and teaching in several different countries in Asia, including China, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Kazakhstan. She loves to experience the unique cultures and traditions in different places and is excited to be joining SIS-PIK in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Ms Debbie holds a growth mindset in high regard, believing that curiosity keeps you young and energised. As such, she likes learning new things (her current favourite “switching from Microsoft Word to Mac” – we learn, and we grow).   She enjoys gardening, travelling, reading, and writing (poetry, blogs, and articles). High on her list of ambitions is to write a novel someday.

Having spent many years in education and experienced the many changes over time, she subscribes to the student centred approach to teaching and learning and in fostering the holistic development of the child in achieving positive student outcomes; her maxim “Be the student of the student”.

Some fun favourites:

Food: everything (never try, never know)
Store: Zara
Colour: green
Book: A thousand splendid suns – by Afghan American author, Khaled Hosseini
Place: home

She is really happy to be part of the SIS-PIK community.
