PD (PRESCHOOL & PRIMARY – QUESTIONING TECHNIQUES AND iPSLE)
Teachers at SIS-PIK believe in lifelong learning and we look forward to our Professional Development Day. It is time set aside where teachers dedicate themselves to upgrading their skill set and knowledge in teaching.
On Friday 14th October, preschool and primary teacher assistants and teachers were introduced to Harvard’s School of Education Project Zero. It is a collection of projects from educators that focus on various aspects of teaching. Together, we explored various questioning techniques and strategies that can be used in class to get SIS-PIK students to look at concepts critically and expand their thinking routines.
In the second part of PD day, primary school teachers participated in training for iPSLE standards. This year, SIS-PIK is offering the international Primary School Examinations (iPSLE) to its students. We are one of three schools in Indonesia offering this examination which is conducted by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board. As part of teacher training, all our primary school teachers go through regular training to understand how these standards can be achieved in our daily teaching and learning. The workshops held on this day is one of many more to come and with a highly-skilled teaching team, we are able to continue offering lessons of high quality and rigour to our students.
