YSPB TRIP TO CIANJUR
On February 17, 2023, 15 SISwa Cares students from the YSPB Students’ Led organisation, and 5 volunteers from grades 9, 10, and 11, went on a charity trip to Cianjur to visit students from SDN Cugenang. SDN Cugenang is one of the local schools that was affected by a 5.6 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Cianjur on November 21, 2022. Unfortunately, three out of 172 students from SDN Cugenang did not survive the earthquake. Currently, the students are evacuated to a temporary site that was borrowed from one of the villagers. The purpose of the trip was to deliver donations that YSPB received from SIS-PIK communities, including students and parents. We donated one pair of shoes and one pair of socks for each of the students in SDN Cugenang. We also gave snacks such as milk, biscuits, and chocolate. SISwa Cares and the volunteers also donated a few coloured pencils, a radio, and an umbrella. The students and teachers at SDN Cugenang were really happy and excited because they had never been visited from outside since they were outcast from the first evacuation site. SDN Cugenang students were so enthusiastic and played along with students from SIS-PIK. All students went home with a wide smile on their faces. SISwa Cares and the volunteers said that they were really happy that even a small help could bring happiness to others. Thank you so much to parents and students who were involved and donated their money to help our event run smoothly. Without your support, this activity would not have been possible.
SDN Cugenang Current Condition after Earthquake
Note: All re-building budgets are already approved by the government, but they are still waiting for a green light from BMKG if the site is no longer a red zone area of the earthquake. Currently they need emotional support and supplies for their daily needs activities.
