INNOVATION WEEK (AI)

Between the 4th and 8th March, High School students experienced ‘Innovation Week’, where each day there were exciting and educational collaborative experiences in innovation and Artificial Intelligence. Here is a rundown of all of the activities they undertook:

Day 1: 

Grade 8 students created booths that discussed AI ethics where they explored the importance of ethical considerations in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how we can create responsible technology.

The subtopics were:

  • Moral
  • Social
  • Bias
  • Privacy
  • Environment
  • Mental Health
  • Accountability
  • Creative Expression
  • Deepfake

Day 2:

Grade 7 students designed booths centred around AI tools. They presented software applications that utilise Artificial Intelligence algorithms to address particular tasks and resolve challenges.

AI tools topics are:

  • Speech recognition
  • Image generator
  • Video maker
  • Digital manga
  • Photo editor
  • Digital art
  • Games
  • Presentation
  • Coding
  • Music
  • Website
  • Research

Day 3: 

Students were lucky enough to attend a Blockchain seminar by Russell Chu, where they delved into the fundamental principles, data integrity, security, advantages, and hurdles of blockchain technology.

Day 4-5:

The spreadsheet competition brought together Grade 7 and Grade 8 students, who went head-to-head in solving problems using spreadsheet apps and formulas. It was a thrilling event where students got to flex their skills, organising data and crunching numbers to tackle a range of challenges. Beyond just showcasing their spreadsheet talents, it was a chance for them to grow, learn, and bond over the excitement of friendly competition.
