ROMANS IN PRIMARY!

This Hallowe’en saw the resurgence of the Roman Empire as Grade 4B donned their armour to take over the school! They had been preparing for this since August – measuring, cutting (with Mr Colin doing most of this), fitting, and gluing – eagerly anticipating the moment they could march around the school. It was an extra class project that they wholeheartedly enjoyed participating in. The excitement was heightened by the fact that it was a secret, and they knew they’d have the best costume in school.

The students enthusiastically learned the names of the armour: gladius (sword), scutum (shield), lorica segmentata (body armour), and galea (helmet). They explored the vast reach of the Roman Empire and even practised marching and drill movements using Latin instructions! It was truly a passion project, made even more special by the fact that they could take their costumes home afterwards.

Once equipped, they toured the school, much to the delight of their teachers and fellow students. It was truly one of the best days of the school year. Don’t forget to check out G4B’s ClassDojo for more photographs.

A final note: Mr Colin already has an idea for next year’s Hallowe’en, so if you’re in his homeroom class next year, get ready for an amazing costume. It’s going to be incredible!
