DR DAN’S DIARY

Dear SIS-PIK Families,
I cannot believe we have got to the end of Week 5 already! The start of the academic year has been a joy; seeing all of the children come back with such enthusiasm, and tales of great experiences with their families over the long break. You will also have noticed our new facade, giving a bright, fresh look to our school in our 20th year.
The highlight of the first few weeks of the year is always our Indonesian Independence Celebrations. This year, our festivities stretched the whole week, as the students from Preschool to Senior High took part in activities such as ondel-ondel making, and a cultural parade of traditional costumes from Indonesian provinces. One of the things that I feel is so important about celebrating Indonesian independence is the reminder that the Pancasila is very much represented in the values we hold as a school. Values of inclusivity and unity in diversity. It is a very welcome moment in the year to remind ourselves of the many wonderful elements of culture that Indonesia gives the world.
We also celebrated excellent results in the IGCSE and BTEC international qualifications. Our IGCSE results were once again up, year on year, with our pass rate of the very top grades A*/A being 44% of all examinations taken. Our BTEC qualifications were also incredibly impressive, with 55% of all grades being the very highest ‘Distinction Star’. We are extremely proud of all of our students and it was a pleasure to recognise their achievements at the IGCSE and BTEC Celebration Ceremony this week.
September’s calendar is also packed, and I look forward to seeing many of you at our annual Mid-Autumn festival event, coming soon.
Best wishes,
Dr Dan
