SIS-PIK COMMUNITY SHOWCASE
 August 2024

PARENTS MEETING

PRESCHOOL
On August 5th, we welcomed Preschool parents to our “Meet the Teacher” session, a key event to kick off the new school year. At the event, Preschool parents had the chance to connect with their children’s educators and explore the classroom environment. The session provided valuable insights into the daily routines and learning activities that shape our students’ experiences. A special highlight of the day was a workshop focused on supporting Chinese language learning at home. Parents left with practical strategies and resources to help their children succeed. The session was a great way to build strong connections between parents and teachers, setting the stage for a fruitful year ahead.

PRIMARY
On August 5th, Primary school parents gathered for an engaging session led by Ms Jun, the Head of Preschool and Primary. The event began with an introduction to the primary team and school structure, ensuring parents were familiar with the key figures and support available.

Ms Jun then provided an overview of the SIS-PIK curriculum, focusing on the teaching and learning approach, and detailed the assessment process, including chapter tests, semester assessments, and the homework policy.

Emphasising the importance of strong communication, Ms Jun encouraged parents to stay connected with the school through email, daily updates, ClassDojo, and scheduled appointments. She also addressed essential school policies on discipline, attendance, and birthday celebrations.

Additionally, Ms Jun previewed upcoming school events, including festivals and termly parent workshops, and urged parents to participate actively. The session wrapped up with a reminder that the school is committed to supporting every child’s growth. Parents were encouraged to contact their child’s form or co-form teacher, the Lower or Upper Primary coordinators, Ms Jun, or Dr Dan for any concerns.

GRADE 7
On Monday, 26th August, over 40 parents of Grade 7 attended an informative introduction to High School led by our Head of High School, Mr Gareth. It was an opportunity to ask questions, but also to meet the large team of support each Grade 7 has around them at SIS-PIK, including all the Form Teachers, the Head of Year (Ms Widya) and our school Emotional and Well-being Counsellor, Ms Levana.
