SIS-PIK COMMUNITY SHOWCASE
January 2023

COMING UP

February is another busy month of educational events at SIS-PIK! We kick off with our Artificial Intelligence Week in High School from 6th-10th February. During this week, many of the students’ lessons will involve projects incorporating design thinking and AI concepts. This is followed on 13th-17th February with Resilience Week, which continues our regular focus on improving students’ independent learning skills. Students who are able to show grit and perseverance are proven to be more successful in both their studies and life in general. All lessons this week will be challenging their resilience, getting them stuck and allowing them to find the strategies to find creative solutions.

We have long held a belief that a ‘STEAM’ education, which places the Arts right in the centre of teaching the traditional ‘STEM’ subjects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, is the most effective way of ensuring students have a broad curriculum. From 20th-25th February, our Primary and Preschool are hosting a ‘STEAM Festival’ and there will be many exciting projects and events during this week, in and out of school time. Particularly exciting is the Primary School Performance of ‘The Princess and the River’, which will be held on the afternoon of Saturday 25th February.

We pride ourselves on hiring excellent teachers who engage in regular, quality professional development. On Saturday 25th February, we will host our first ‘Education Day’, where teachers from around Jakarta will be invited to undertake training sessions delivered by our staff. There will also be a range of Parent Workshops provided. More information will be shared in due course, but this promises to be a really inspiring day of learning for us all.

Finally, February sees Preliminary Examinations for our IGCSE and IB students, starting on the 21st February. We wish them luck!
