SIS-PIK COMMUNITY SHOWCASE
October 2022

DR DAN’S DIARY

Dear SIS-PIK Families,

Welcome to the first edition of our new ‘Community Showcase’. Parents tell us how much they appreciate hearing about all the activities in and out of the classroom that occur throughout each week. We have also found that, especially during the pandemic, sending important information is most effective through specific emails and WhatsApp messages from the school, rather than through the Community Updates.

This is why we have created the ‘Community Showcase’. This new monthly e-magazine will provide articles written by staff and students about the events that have passed. We also include a ‘Coming Up’ slot to alert you to events next month.

Amongst the many articles in this edition, we’re pleased to announce our new student leaders for this academic year, and show you pictures of the STUCO Investiture. There’s information about the continuous professional development our teachers underwent earlier this month. You can also see how our Preschoolers enjoyed an on-campus learning journey involving real animals.

Some news I’m very happy to share is that we have been informed by the Cambridge Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) that we are amongst the top 3% of IB schools for value added in the whole world. Their diagnostic tests and tracking show that, on average, an IB student at SIS-PIK gains two grades higher in each subject than they would be expected to get. We are delighted by this and continue to use the CEM tests to ensure that we can provide the most effective interventions and support for our students so they can reach ever greater heights.
