TEACHERS’ DAY

“A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” – Henry Brooks Adams.

A teacher’s guidance and influence over their students truly cannot be compared to anything else in this world. As SIS-PIK joins in with the celebration of World Teachers’ Day on 5 October 2022, a whole day was spent in celebration to honour our modern day heroes – our teachers.

Led by the prefects, the celebration started with a class mini-programme wherein each form class crafted tributes for their teachers and asked their teachers questions during up-close and personal interviews. This gave an opportunity for the teachers to open up and share their beautiful life experiences with their students, allowing them to see their teachers in a different, more meaningful way and most importantly, be inspired by them.

This activity was followed with an entire school programme including a fashion show, where teachers were dressed up by their form classes like the superheroes their students see them as. The whole programme was extremely festive and many teachers dressed up marvellously! On top of that, four outstanding teachers were named as winners, all voted by the students themselves. Here are the winners:

Primary Department:

  1. Mr Abdul Gofur (Winner of Best Costume Award)
  2. Ms Analyn Saile (Winner of Best Model Award)

High School Department:

  1. Dr Sebastian Chua (Winner of Best Costume Award)
  2. Mr Air Obligar (Winner of Best Model Award)

After the fashion show, the SIS-PIK community took to the stage! Both students and teachers showed a different side of themselves in a talent show with elements of song, dance and pure talent. With show-stopping performances accompanied by thunderous applause, the talent show was absolutely memorable. Mr Gareth and Dr Dan even performed a wonderful song number and a magic trick respectively to cap it all off!

Following the talent show, High School students and teachers enjoyed games in the afternoon. During this time, High School students competed with teachers in fierce tournaments of basketball, badminton, video games and billiards, resulting in a showdown of all sorts, while primary students had their class parties in their respective form rooms with party snacks and fun.

It was truly a day of fun and enjoyment.
