GRADE 8 LEARNING JOURNEY
The Grade 8 students of SIS-PIK embarked on a captivating learning journey to Surakarta, affectionately known as Solo, a major city nestled in the heart of Central Java, Indonesia. Their adventure took them to a multitude of fascinating places that left a lasting impact on their education and hearts. At the Solo Technopark, they were introduced to the innovative world of technology and entrepreneurship, gaining insights into the cutting-edge developments in the region. Engaging in a Batik Making Activity allowed them to delve into the intricate art of fabric dyeing, creating vibrant patterns and realising the meticulous craftsmanship that goes into each piece.
Amidst the lush surroundings of Tawangmangu, the students embraced the challenge of Outbound Activities, fostering teamwork and leadership skills while experiencing the serenity of the outdoors. Candi Sukuh, a 15th-century temple cloaked in mystery, unfolded the rich tapestry of Indonesia’s history and culture, with its unique terraced design and fusion of Hindu and Javanese beliefs.
The students also had the privilege to explore the resplendent Mangkunegaran Palace, steeped in royal heritage and architectural grandeur. At the Sangiran Museum, the cradle of human civilization, they encountered a treasure trove of prehistoric fossils and archaeological wonders, offering a glimpse into the evolution of humanity.
Throughout this enriching journey, the Grade 8 students not only enriched their minds with knowledge but also had the unique opportunity to bond with their classmates and teachers. This valuable learning experience was relished by all, leaving them with cherished memories and a newfound passion for the rich tapestry of Indonesia’s history and traditions. It was a chance to form lasting connections, not only with the places they visited but with each other, strengthening their sense of unity and camaraderie.
