TEACHERS’ DAY
As Prefects, we recognise that education is a powerful tool, forming the bedrock of our growth and development. Thus, it’s imperative to celebrate our teachers, the unwavering guides of our educational journey. We appreciate their dedication, wisdom, and the invaluable knowledge they impart.
To extend our appreciation, we celebrated our teachers not just for a day but for an entire month. This served as a heartfelt gesture to express our deepest gratitude to all teachers across all levels. Teacher’s Day, far from routine, became an opportunity to honour those who have nurtured us as second parents, imparting knowledge and life lessons alike.
The celebration featured various heartwarming activities, including “Monday Treats” from September 5th to October 5th. Prefects prepared special treats and tokens of appreciation each Monday as a sincere expression of gratitude for the tireless effort teachers invest in our education.
The pinnacle of this month-long celebration was the October 13th Awards Ceremony, where teachers were formally recognised for their outstanding contributions to education.
Following the awards ceremony, special activities were also organised in each level or department.
In Preschool, the celebration began with a Potluck Party, as students shared snacks and indulged in the making and distribution of Teacher’s Day crafts.
Lower and Upper Primary students engaged in activities in the Mini Auditorium, playing Blooket Teacher games, and crafting vibrant posters to show appreciation for Teacher’s Day.
In Grades 1 to 3, student assistants, appointed by the teachers, added an extra layer of support to the classes, enabling students to experience their teachers’ roles.
Grades 4 to 6 displayed their leadership by conducting student-led lessons, showcasing their knowledge and skills.
Lastly, in High School, a novel and unique teacher-student swap activity took place. Students became the educators for a day, and teachers embraced the students’ roles, cultivating mutual respect and an understanding of the daily challenges teachers face.
Our objective in celebrating Teachers’ Month at SIS-PIK was to ensure that our teachers both comprehend the profound influence they wield and feel the deep appreciation their students hold for them. This celebration cemented the strong bonds between educators and eager learners, founded on mutual respect and gratitude.
