PREVIEW – LEARNING JOURNEYS
We are excited to plan a range of school Learning Journeys, a unique and invaluable opportunity for our students to embark on a journey of experiential learning. At SIS-PIK, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom, and every child, from Nursery to Grade 12, deserves the chance to explore, discover, and grow through hands-on experiences.
Scheduled for the week of 16th October, these Learning Journeys are carefully curated to ensure that each student is engaged in age-appropriate activities that not only pique their curiosity but also enrich their understanding of the world around them.
Here’s a glimpse of what’s in store for our students:
Nursery: Our youngest learners will have a memorable day right here at school, where they will play traditional games and get up close with fascinating mammals and reptiles brought in for them to learn from.
Kindergarten: Kindergarten students will venture beyond our school walls to the Jakarta Aquarium, where they will explore the wonders of marine life and deepen their appreciation for the natural world.
Primary School: Primary students will visit the vast and diverse Taman Mini Indonesia Indah site to delve into the rich tapestry of Indonesian cultures through its numerous museums, exhibits, and attractions.
Grade 7: Headed to nearby Bandung, Grade 7 will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the history, culture, and natural beauty of this wonderful region.
Grade 8: Grade 8 students will journey further afield to Solo, where they will uncover the unique cultural treasures that this city has to offer.
Grade 9: A visit to Yogyakarta awaits Grade 9, providing them with a chance to delve into the heart of Javanese culture and heritage.
Grade 10: Grade 10 students will witness the breathtaking beauty of a Mount Bromo sunrise and explore the enchanting destination of Malang.
Grade 11 and 12: Our older students in Grade 11 and 12 will utilise this Learning Journey to gain expert insights into their IB Science and BTEC Business projects in Labuan Bajo.
We have aimed for these excursions to be responsible and support the environment, choosing train travel and coach travel wherever possible, and we ensure our partners work ethically, supporting the land and nature.
We wholeheartedly believe that these experiences will not only ignite a passion for learning but also create lasting memories with friends and teachers alike. As we prepare for these exciting journeys, we wish everyone a wonderful, inspiring, and educational time ahead. Check out next month’s Community Showcase for amazing reports of all our trips.
