HIGH SCHOOL LEADERSHIP CAMP
In the first week of Term 3, the 2025–2026 Student Council hosted a long-standing leadership camp for students from Grades 7 to 10. This two-day experience combined challenging teamwork activities with relaxing moments by the bonfire. Throughout the camp, this year’s prefects demonstrated strong leadership, cooperation, and commitment.
Activities – DAY 1
The camp began with three hours of inspiring talks by the Head of School, Head of Primary, and Head of High School. Dr Dan delivered a speech titled ‘Lead from the Heart: Inspiring and Supporting Your Peers’, highlighting the importance of leadership and teamwork. Ms Junaida discussed effective time management through the use of spreadsheets, while Mr Gareth led interactive activities to help students discover their leadership styles and understand teamwork. Although, before all these inspiring speeches, each group is given pieces of paper to create a logo that represents them.
Following the speeches, students took part in their first major challenge, WILDCARD. This activity tested problem-solving, patience, and teamwork. Each group selected a card linked to a mystery bag containing materials for a task. Teams had 20 minutes to collaborate and create a project using only the given resources.
Later in the evening, all groups came together for Obor-Obor, a high-energy activity focused on strategy and teamwork. Students worked together to transport candles across the field while dodging water balloons thrown by teachers and Student Council members, lighting a torch at the end as a symbol of achievement.
After dinner and a refreshing swim, students participated in the Crossfire Gauntlet, where teams competed in a series of station-based challenges. Upon completing each task, teams could either add points to their own score or deduct points from another team.
The night concluded with the Walk of Bravery, where teams navigated the school grounds in the dark using only one flashlight per group. This challenge required courage and cooperation, as teams searched for cups hidden around the campus and combined them to spell the word “LEADERSHIP.” Finally, the night ended with a cosy campfire, complete with roasted marshmallows, hot chocolate, and the night time activities. As we build tents to spend the night in at the MPH.

Activities – DAY 2
Day 2 began at 6:00 a.m. with students waking up and packing up their tents, followed by morning exercises on the field led by Student Council members. This energising session helped wake everyone up and set a positive tone for the day. Afterward, students had breakfast before moving on to the next major activity.
The first challenge of the day was Rush Hour, an activity that combined elements from Day 1. Each group rolled a dice to determine their destination around the school. Hidden on each floor were cards containing mysterious and challenging tasks, each worth different points—the higher the points, the harder the challenge. Teams had to think strategically about whether to keep their points or use them to sabotage other groups.
Next was the highly anticipated Sustainable Raft Building activity. Using limited resources, each team worked together to build a raft strong enough to cross the swimming pool. Once completed, students were allowed some free time to enjoy the pool before heading off to shower and have lunch.
The second-to-last event of the camp was an insightful session with last year’s Student Council members – Freya, Chloe, and David. They shared the importance of event planning and proposal writing. In this interactive session, each group created an event proposal and presented it on stage, answering questions from the former Student Council members.
The camp concluded with a closing ceremony, where the Student Council announced the winners based on the highest total group points and the highest individual points.
