Independence Week
SIS-PIK completed its largest community celebration yet with a joyous Independence Week commemorating 80 years of Indonesian culture and success. Students transformed campus spaces with décor and photo booths themed to our school houses (and Indonesian mountains) of Merapi, Kerinci, Rinjani, and Mandala. They explored history, language, music, and art through engaging lessons, while the High School organised a colourful Santapan Nusantara cooking challenge alongside small historical performances. A student-run bazaar filled the canteen with flavours from across the archipelago, with all proceeds donated to SISwa Cares.
Families joined Thursday’s Sports Carnival to cheer on Primary house games, cheerleading, and High School contests. On Friday morning, the community gathered on the rear field for a dignified flag-raising ceremony, followed by Pentas Budaya in the MPH, where students showcased song, dance, and traditional attire from several regions. SISwa Cares welcomed 80 orphaned children to campus during the week, and celebrations concluded on Saturday with 80 Smiles for 80 Years of Freedom.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr Dan, NTS colleagues, STUCO, house captains, teachers, staff, students, and parents for their unwavering support. Together, we honoured our nation’s journey while strengthening our SIS-PIK family bonds. Indonesia, Merdeka!
