DR DAN’S DIARY
Dear SIS-PIK Families,

As we move further into Term 3 and reflect on the close of an exceptionally busy and rewarding period, I would like to share a few of my special moments since I last wrote my diary!
The end of Term 2 was marked by events that truly captured the spirit of SIS-PIK. Mountain Day was a wonderful reminder of the energy and enthusiasm of our students. From Preschool through Primary, it was a joy to see our children living our Culture Mountain values in action – showing resilience in physical challenges, reciprocity through teamwork, reflectiveness in learning from each activity, and resourcefulness as they adapted and supported one another. The smiles, cheers, and house pride made it a fitting and uplifting way to close the term.
Our Christmas Concert was another standout and really special moment. I was particularly proud to see our older students taking on leadership roles, both on stage and behind the scenes, supporting and inspiring their younger peers. It was a celebration not only of talent, but of growth and community. Even more impressive was the MCs from Kindergarten in the Preschool Concert. They were confident, funny and held their nerve. Total professionals!
The High School Leadership Camp set a strong and purposeful tone for the months ahead. Spending time with our student leaders talking about empathy was a personal highlight for me. Their engagement and willingness to put themselves in others’ shoes reaffirmed my belief that leadership at SIS-PIK is built on kindness, responsibility, and service to others.
This sense of leadership and global awareness was further exemplified during the SIS-PIK Model United Nations Conference, held on 17–18 January. It was inspiring to see our students engage thoughtfully with complex global issues, articulate their ideas with confidence, and listen respectfully to differing perspectives. Events such as MUN play an important role in developing international mindedness, critical thinking, and effective communication – skills that will serve our students well far beyond the classroom.
You can read more about all of these events – and much more – in this version of the Community Showcase.
Warm regards,
Dr Dan
