GRADE 6 IMMERSION PROGRAMME TO HIGH SCHOOL

Supporting a Successful Journey from Grade 6 to Grade 7
At SIS-PIK, we recognise that the move from Primary School to High School is one of the most important transitions in a child’s educational journey. To ensure every student feels confident, informed and excited about this next step, we have designed a comprehensive, year-long Grade 6 into Grade 7 Academic Transition Programme.

Our transition model focuses on three key pillars: Student Awareness and Engagement, Building Strong Relationships, and Teaching & Learning Preparation. Across the school year, students and parents are supported through a structured series of activities, workshops, classroom experiences and community events aimed at making the transition smooth and positive.

What Students Experience
Throughout the year, Grade 6 students are gradually introduced to High School life. They meet the Grade 7 team, participate in Classroom Drop-Ins, enjoy Student Lounge lunches and games hosted by Grade 7 volunteers, and even attend selected High School lessons such as Maths, English, Science, Enterprise, Global Perspectives or Drama. Opportunities such as joining the High School Halloween event, participating in E-Sports competitions, or attending Mountain Day help students build familiarity and excitement for their new environment.

What Parents Can Expect
Our transition programme strongly emphasises partnership with parents. Across the year, we offer a sequence of webinars, workshops, Coffee Mornings and face-to-face information sessions covering High School culture, teaching and learning approaches, curriculum pathways, assessment, study habits and safe technology use. Parents are invited to share their questions through our HS Question Box and via surveys that help shape the support we provide.

What Teachers Do Behind the Scenes
To ensure academic continuity and wellbeing, Grade 6 and Grade 7 teachers collaborate through planning meetings, shared training sessions and student-strength discussions. This includes professional development on bridging teaching expectations, and end-of-year meetings where teachers share insights about each child’s strengths, needs and learning profile.

Our Commitment
This transition programme reflects our belief that every learner deserves a supportive start to High School, one that builds confidence, celebrates strengths and lays the foundation for success in the years ahead. We look forward to partnering with all Grade 6 families as we prepare students for an exciting new chapter at SIS-PIK.
