Dr Dan’s Diary
Dear SIS-PIK Families,

September has been a month filled with learning, care, and community spirit at SIS-PIK.
One of the most important highlights was our Vaccination Programme for Grades 1-2 and Grades 5-6. In cooperation with the Penjaringan District Health Centre (Puskesmas Kecamatan Penjaringan), our students received their vaccinations as part of a wider government initiative. It is always a priority for us to promote the health and wellbeing of our young people, and we are proud to play our part in supporting this essential public health programme.
Another personal highlight for me was HS Languages Week, which gave us the chance to celebrate the richness of communication and expression. I even managed to weave one of my favourite words – “discombobulated” – into conversations throughout the week! It was wonderful to see our students exploring different languages in ways that were both fun and academically enriching.
At the end of August, we held our Professional Development Day, where teachers deepened their understanding of how we support students across the school. Alongside our Open House, the focus this time was on our new Student Support Team, particularly in helping students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Supporting every learner is at the heart of our mission, and it was inspiring to see our teachers so engaged in developing their practice.
Finally, our Clinical Practice Weekend saw our budding clinicians from Grades 9-12 in school, learning about professional standards and best practices in clinical care. Their dedication and seriousness of purpose were truly commendable.
You can find photos and more details about these events and others in this month’s Community Showcase.
As we close September, I wish everyone a very happy and refreshing term break.
Best wishes,
Dr Dan
