INNOVATION WEEK (PRESCHOOL AND PRIMARY)
Preschool
In Innovation Week, the little ones had a blast showing off their creativity! The Nursery kids had a cool idea – they used empty Yakult bottles to make colourful art. It was awesome to see how they can reuse stuff to make something new and pretty. The Kindergarten 1 students made their little gardens in jars (terrarium). They learnt about plants and how they grow, which was fascinating. And the Kindergarten 2 students did two activities. First, they made posters all about clean water and why it’s important for everyone. Then, they built houses with marshmallows and chopsticks to see if they could stay strong during an earthquake. It was a fun week where everyone learnt new things and found out how to help the planet while being creative!
Primary
Primary Innovation Week at SIS-PIK is a time of excitement and exploration, where young minds are encouraged to think creatively and problem-solve for a better world. This year, our focus is on four crucial United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), and Life on Land (SDG 15).
The week kicked off with the Olympiad, where students put their critical thinking and analytical skills to the test. On Wednesday 28th February, House Challenges brought students together in friendly competition. Whether it was designing and building structures from recycled materials or creating innovative solutions to real-world problems, students collaborated within their house teams, fostering camaraderie and teamwork.
Throughout the week, students delved into their passions and interests to innovate and create for their Project Work exhibition. From developing eco-friendly initiatives to designing tech prototypes, students explored a wide range of topics and ideas. Their projects not only showcased their creativity but also their commitment to making a positive impact on their communities and the world.
This week is more than just a series of projects; it’s an opportunity for our students to become changemakers and global citizens. They are learning valuable skills such as critical thinking, collaboration and empathy, while also making a tangible impact on pressing global issues. As they continue to innovate and inspire, we are confident that the future they envision will be brighter and more sustainable for all.
