SCHOOL REOPENING IN JULY 2021
On July 19th 2021, we will open our hybrid program for Primary, Secondary and JC (P1 to JC2). Our Preschool will continue with virtual learning for semester 1. This hybrid program will include both face-to-face learning as well as our well established virtual learning program. Parents may choose to continue with the virtual learning program if it makes them feel more comfortable.
For this week, we want to share information regarding keeping our students safe while on campus.
Entering the School
- All students must arrive at school with School ID and face mask worn correctly.
- Drop off/Pick up zone clearly marked for cars to help social distancing.
- Students line up 1 meter apart (spaces marked) to wash hands or use hand sanitizer before entering the school through the flat barriers.
- Temperature checks will be undertaken automatically as children approach the barrier through thermal imaging. Teachers will be present to monitor this at peak arrival times to ensure social distancing.
- Children are not permitted to enter the school before 7:20am. The earliest arrival times per section are:
- AM: Primary 3-6: 7:20am; Primary 1&2: 7:45am; Sec 1-3: 8:20am; Sec 4-JC2: 9:00am
- PM: Primary 3-6: 11:20am; Primary 1&2: 11.50am; Sec 1-3: 12.30pm (TBC dependent on Hybrid Programme uptake)
However, children with siblings in other grade levels who have different drop off/pick up times may arrive earlier, and may wait in the Primary or Secondary library.
- Once students enter the Primary lobby, they must go straight to the homeroom. All homeroom teachers must be in homerooms ready to receive students from their earliest arrival time. No child should be waiting in the corridors.
- Students will not be allowed to bring materials into school (other than laptop, snack, spare masks and sanitisers). All textbooks will be digitised.
- Parents are kindly asked to move away from the Primary lobby once they have dropped-off or picked-up their child(ren) and avoid overcrowding.
Classrooms and In-class Procedures
- In P1 to JC2, students will sit at desks / tables facing in one direction. Classroom desks should be arranged as a zig zag to try to maximise social distancing (at least 1.5 metres apart).
- In any instances where students line up, markings are provided to ensure students line up 1 metre apart. In Secondary and JC, students should not line up, but enter the classroom and directly sit at their desks.
- At every lesson changeover students must wash or sanitise their hands.
- Students will be permitted to clean the desk if they wish at the beginning of the lesson (with their own wipes) and they will be required to clean the desk that they have used at the end of a lesson before leaving a room. Cleaning materials will be provided for the cleaning at the end of a lesson/session.
- During lessons, equipment must not be shared. Stationery, pens, pencils, calculators etc must not be shared. Students must provide their own. All stationery stays in school. It does not travel between home and school.
- Staff should remain at a two-metre distance away from students where possible, and limit close contact.
- In Secondary and JC laptops are not shared, and laptop chargers can only be shared as a last resort – these must be sanitized before and after use.
- Students should remain in seats during the lesson unless instructed otherwise by the member of staff.
- Doors and windows will be open throughout all lessons in order to ventilate the room with air from outside.
- Perspex screens will be added to all desks, and each student has an individual desk in their homeroom for storage.
- Students will be discouraged from leaving class for bathroom breaks outside of break time. If a student must leave during lesson time, only one student per class is to leave at a time.
Use of Speciality Classrooms: Science Laboratories and IT Labs
- All standard classroom policies and procedures must be observed
- Timetables will be created so that there is a minimum of a 40 minute break in between different classes
- Technicians to wipe surfaces and equipment between sessions
Disinfection of common areas of the school campus
- The main common areas of the school including the school corridor, staircase handrails, door handles, light switches, remote controls, conference rooms, lift buttons, toilets and other public parts will be disinfected every day.
- Tables and chairs disinfected everyday
- Each week each room in the school under regular use will be sanitised with UV lights
- When open, toys in preschool will be disinfected each day
- The bathrooms will be disinfected many times each day, including when students are at school. A card logging cleaning schedule will be available in each classroom and bathroom.
Disinfection of classrooms, including specialist classrooms
- A disinfection schedule will be in place for all classrooms and specialist classrooms. Tables and chairs are disinfected each day.
- If possible the same mops, cloths etc should be used in the same areas each day to reduce the chance of contaminating multiple areas.
- Use UV lights to sanitise classrooms once per week
